Today in the lab
Six extremes from the games running right now. They describe what has already happened — nothing here says anything about the next spin.
TODAY IN THE LAB
What the data is showing right now
Longest without a bonus round right now
This is the closest thing to an honest "which machine is cold today" list: for every game the lab is running, how many spins it has gone since its last free-spin round, next to the longest run it has ever had. Both columns are counts of things that already happened. Neither one changes what the next spin does — the study below is us testing exactly that and failing to find an effect.
| Slot | Spins since last bonus | Its longest ever | spins tested |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gates of Olympus 1000 | 926 | 2,869 | 120,000 |
| Big CaiShen | 840 | 1,517 | 40,420 |
| Gates of Olympus Super Scatter | 548 | 2,289 | 90,560 |
| Sweet Bonanza 1000 | 471 | 2,427 | 65,900 |
| Sugar Rush 1000 | 427 | 1,761 | 75,980 |
| Treasure of Atlantis | 386 | 1,432 | 46,820 |
| Aztec Gold Treasure | 347 | 1,026 | 41,840 |
| Prosperity Snake | 295 | 1,350 | 49,580 |
| Bounty Hunt | 280 | 1,059 | 36,400 |
| Starlight Princess | 264 | 1,949 | 82,780 |
| Sweet Bonanza | 263 | 2,926 | 94,440 |
| Prosperity Horse | 239 | 1,692 | 49,620 |
Why "today" cannot change your odds
Every spin is drawn independently. A game that has paid nothing for three thousand spins is not more likely to pay on the next one, and a game that just paid a big win is not less likely to pay again. We tested this directly rather than asserting it: grouping 1,385,260 spins by how long each game had gone without a bonus round, the hit rate of the next spin does not rise with the drought. Running the same method over deliberately streaky synthetic data does find an effect — which is how we know the test would have caught one.
